About Me

Hello! I'm Nofar Avnin Levi, the artist and creator behind "Nofar's Studio" and I'm glad you're here.

Punch Needle Israel was born from a great passion and love for handicrafts and from a desire to make this wonderful technique accessible to the Israeli audience. Here you'll find not only the best equipment, but a complete knowledge center designed to give you all the confidence to experiment, create and fall in love.

My connection to threads and fabrics is part of my DNA. As the daughter of an embroidery and textile artist, I grew up in a home where creating was a constant part of daily life. Our living room was always full of colorful thread baskets, and my mother's fabric scraps were material for play and creation for me.

My professional journey went through jewelry design studies at Shenkar and years of teaching art.

My late encounter with punch needle was a moment when I discovered a new language for self-expression. I found a medium that lets me combine rich visual creation with an accessible, enjoyable, calming and deeply satisfying practice.

Punch Needle is far more than a handicraft; it is a kind of "rhythmic magic" that bridges the creative space and the inner, emotional space. While many crafts demand a high level of technical focus, punch needle offers a smooth entry into a state of Flow, that state of mind in which we are completely absorbed in what we're doing and forget about time. For me, that is punch needle's superpower.

Punch needle is based on a repetitive "punch and pull" motion. That rhythm creates a calming inner resonance. For children and adults alike, this motion acts as an anchor: it requires presence in the moment (Mindfulness), quiets the "background noise" of thoughts and lowers stress levels within minutes.

In most handicrafts, the final result demands patience and a long wait before the beauty begins to reveal itself. With punch needle, the surface fills up quickly. Every push of the needle adds a soft loop of color, and the rapid transition from empty fabric to a rich, colorful surface feels immediately tangible.

It is also an incredibly forgiving technique. Made a mistake? Simply pull the thread out, smooth the fabric and start again. That freedom releases the fear of "making a mistake", a barrier that keeps many people from approaching and creating.

This first experience is especially critical when it comes to children. Many children avoid creating because they fear they don't know how, that they won't succeed, or that they'll lose patience along the way. The encounter with soft wool yarns and taut fabric, which turns into something fluffy and inviting under their hands, changes the rules of the game. This is a pivotal moment where they choose whether to continue or avoid, and most of them stay with the process and develop patience and perseverance because they see rewards all along the way.

I believe that creating is a language of its own and a meaningful milestone in building children's confidence and sense of capability. The key lies in how we make the material accessible to them. When the tools are right and the technique is welcoming, children discover that they can. And that is the most important lesson they take from the studio: faith in themselves and in their ability to create something from nothing out of material and color.

In a world of rapid stimulation, punch needle offers both children and adults an island of calm. The meditative rhythm of working with the needle develops the ability to stay within a process and persevere. It is a captivating, immersive craft!

After leading hundreds of workshops and classes in my studio in Ramat HaSharon, I realized that Israel lacked comprehensive, quality and accessible information in Hebrew. This site is the answer: a professional knowledge center with detailed step-by-step guides, honest equipment recommendations, inspiration and a community to help you grow.

I believe handicraft is far more than a hobby. It's an important, essential part of quality of life. I invite you to join our community, bring a little quiet, softness and color into your everyday, and start creating together with me.
